The British Standard for Industrial Fuel Oils, BS2869:2006, contains two grades of gas oil; Class A2 & Class D. The Class A2 specification is suitable for both diesel engines and furnace applications whilst the Class D specification is suitable for furnace applications such as boilers, dryers and roadstone coating plants, but not suitable for diesel engines.

Most oil companies offer just one grade of Gas Oil, or red diesel, which meets Class A2 and Class D and is suitable for both diesel engine and furnace applications. Ukay Fuels Ltd can supply conventional Gas Oil but also offer “Supaplus 35 – Gas oil”, which meets the Class D specification for furnace applications. Supaplus 35 offers a typical 8 to 10% saving over conventional Gas Oil in industrial boiler and furnace applications.

Oil refining produces a wide range of components which are blended in varying proportions to produce different fuels. The components used in Supaplus 35 are all refinery products but the cheaper components not suitable for use in conventional Gas Oil can be utilised. There are no waste oils in Ukay Fuels products.

Supaplus 35 is used across a wide range of furnace applications from small package boilers to the large rotary dryers used in mineral processing. Supaplus 35 is not recommended for boilers with an output of less than 100kW. Gas Oil is not suitable for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plants.

A comparison of typical properties between regular Gas Oil and Supaplus 35 follows:

FUEL PROPERTY GAS OIL - TYPICAL SUPAPLUS 35 - TYPICAL

To summarise, Supaplus 35 offers a substantial saving over conventional Gas Oil without compromising plant performance in any way.
